The Everest Base Camp trek starts with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From here, the route leads away from the crowds on Everest’s main walking trails deep into the heart of Sherpa homeland. Accommodation in highland tea houses along the way, allowing you to experience traditional Sherpa hospitality and relax in rural comfort after a hard day’s walking. Acclimatisation at two locations - the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar and Dingboche.

Our experienced trekking guides have been guiding treks to Everest Base Camp for more than a decade and over time, we have developed our itinerary and trek service to make sure that you will have the best experience. With an average of 6-8 hours of walking each day, the Everest Base Camp trek is suitable for fit trekkers looking for a memorable challenge. The trek is fully portaged with porters carrying your main baggage, and our guides will provide careful acclimatisation programme to avoid altitude sickness.

ITINERARY

​

Day 1

Arrive Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) - 1,300m.  Meet & Greet by trekking guide. Transfer to hotel for briefing.  Rest of day F&E.


Day 2

Depart hotel early morning to airport for domestic flight to Lukla (2,750m).  Flight time about 30 mins.  Upon arrival in Lukla, meet porter/s to arrange packing before trek starts.  Trek to Phakding (2,660m) via Dudh Koshi river bank for about 3-4 hours.

Day 3

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) for about 5-6 hours which you can see flora and fauna along the journey.

Day 4

Acclimatisation Day – a short hike up the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Can explore the local internet cafes, shops, restaurants & bakeries.  Advisable to stay active during the day.

Day 5

Trek to Tangboche  (3,850m) for about 5 hours.  Along the way, you will see views of Mt Everest, Ama Dablam and Lotse if sky is clear. In Tangboche, there’s a popular Buddhist monastery.

Day 6

Trek to Dingboche (4,400m) for about 5-6 hours.

Day 7

Acclimatisation Day – explore Chukung Ri.

​

Day 8

Trek to Lobuche for about 5-6 hours (4,990m).  Over here, impressive sunset view of Mt Nuptse.

​

Day 9

Progress slowly to trek to Gorakshep (5,350m) for about 5-6 hours.  Along the trail, views of Mt Pumori (7,145m) and Kalapattar (5,545m) can be seen if weather is good.  After resting at the lodge at Gorakshep, can continue along the side of the Khumbu Glacier to the Everest Base Camp site (5,365m) and then back to the lodge (about 4 hours).

Day 10

Early morning, ascend to Kalapattar for about 2 hours – the best vantage point for views of Mt Everest.  After descending (another 2 hrs), trek to Pheriche (4,200m) for another 4 hours.  The Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) runs a clinic/health post in Pheriche for trekkers and porters during peak seasons.

Day 11

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) for about 6-7 hours.

​

Day 12

Trek to Lukla (2,750m) for about 6-7 hours.

​

Day 13

Morning flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu.

Sightseeing tour to Swayambhunath Temple (aka Monkey Temple) / Boudha Stupa / Royal New Palace / shopping.

​

Day 14

Departure transfer to TIA.

​
